Just playing with new colours.

Please view in full size, it looks like nothing otherwise (in my opinion few photos of abstract paintings can match the original... *sigh*)

Oil paint on a cotton canvas of (very) low quality.

(And the date shown on the right when the photo of the picture is supposed to have been taken is wrong - it was painted and photographed today ;).)

Oh, it went pretty fast. Less than an hour, I'd assume. I undercoated the whole picture with white, except for in the area where the orange dominates, and then I added orange and crimson red - first in the manner I had painted 'no.2' in, always drawing the brush from one side straight to the other and when that didn't suffice in my opinion, I added those four lines in between and repeated the aforementioned brush stroke so they looked faded. I added a little bit of white last night - I'll take a picture of that when I've got enough light.

Thank you for liking and :+fav: the painting. I like the idea of those faded lines - perhaps I'll do more paintings in that style. :)

Very pretty, although I assume you were going for simply an aesthetic concept, rather than a substantial idea, for example the exploration of an abstract idea. I only say this because I am not made to feel anything when I look at this painting- it isn't greatly (or at all) evocative or emotive. Was this the case?

The effect you have created with paint is fairly astounding, though. It's very ethereal and pleasant and I wish I could paint as well as you. =)

Wow, that sounded so pretentious, sorry about that! I'm not usually this elitist... :giggle:

You're right - I was only fascinated by the colours and wanted to try them out in this manner, having some of them left from another work I had started. I had no concept behind the picture. I fear I need to work on that. I don't know if it's a lack of self-confidence or something else but I rarely come up with a concept that I actually realise.

Wish i could see this in higher resolution under some balenced defused lighting. Even though I have a camera and a tripod, i havent managed to solve myh diffused lighting issues yet. Probebly some kind of clamp and cheap tripod, a hollahooop with some silk rapped around it. I cant really afford a REAL light box..sighs... THis is wonderful, wish i had made this myself.
